Padova (Padua) was a great stop for history and early Renaissance art.

 

  Abbazia di Santa Giustina.

 The inside was impressive. The interior was so large, that it made me feel like an ant!

 Prato della Valle is a massive square featuring a central island surrounded by 70+ statues of historic residents.

 The Pontifical Basilica of Saint Anthony of Padua is a Roman Catholic church and minor basilica in Padua.

 

  The oratory of Saint George.

 

 

 Padua University was established in 1222!

 

 The Palazzo della Ragione is a medieval market hall, town hall and palace of justice building in Padua.

 

 

 The Scrovegni Chapel contains a fresco cycle by Giotto, which was completed about 1305, and is considered to be an important masterpiece of Western art.

 Giotto’s focus on emotion and natural representations of human figures would be emulated and expanded upon by successive artists, leading him to be called the "Father of the Renaissance."
