Monticello is Thomas Jefferson’s home. He was a self-taught architect who designed his mansion.

The house was constantly being worked on, and wasn’t officially completed until 1809, when he finished his two terms as president.

Here’s a bust of John Adams, Jefferson’s friend... or he was, some of the time.

He put the beds in little alcoves like this, to save space. I don’t know if I like that idea. Jefferson was 6’ 2”. How did he sleep in there?

The dining room had bright colored walls to make it appear more illuminated.

The grounds were extensive, with long plots of gardens. His plantations and slave labor helped grow his food, so the estate can be self-sustainable.

 Jefferson’s tomb.

I visited Charlottesville, which is the nearby city. There is a nice pedestrian only street.
