It all started in Rome. I didn’t know it at the time, but I would visit all Seven Wonders of the World. This trip, in which my friends and I backpacked throughout Western Europe for two months, kicked off my quest to see as much of the world as possible, and in turn the World Wonders.

The Colosseum is one of my favorite sites in the entire world. The history of the structure is fascinating.

It is the largest amphitheatre ever built. It is estimated that the Colosseum could hold between 50,000 and 80,000 spectators. It was built around the years 70–80 AD.

These are my friends who backpacked alongside me for two months. It was a great experience.

In 2012, I returned to Rome for a one night layover. I had enough time to visit the Colosseum for a second time. This is the only World Wonder I have visited more than once.
